The Lee is a working livestock farm covering some 1200 acres and is part of the Duke of Northumberland's estate. The Aynsley family have farmed here for over 125 years.
All of the jobs on the farm are carried out by Paul, his father and one farm worker, Tim. The award-winning sheep flock at The Lee are North Country Cheviots, a hardy breed developed many generations ago in this very area. Like the Aynsley family themselves, the sheep are very much a part of the Northumbrian countryside!
Guests are allowed to wander wherever they wish throughout the farm - But please remember to shut the gates! And we are always happy to answer any questions you may have about the farm and farming. During lambing time (beginning mid. March) there are always a few extra mouths to feed in the form of pet lambs, and guests are more than welcome to grab a bottle and help out!
We strive to make your holiday stay with us at The Lee to be as enjoyable and memorable as we possibly can. Don't forget to take a look at what our previous guests have said about their stay in the guestbook. |
